Note: This Price Comparison Screen is provided as an educational resource for benefit plan members. It shows relative price differences and potential savings available to members from various sources. Because prices are reviewed at least once a week, they may change without notice. Prices for Canadian or other internationally-obtained drugs are also influenced by charges for postage and handling and varying international currency exchange rates. For more information, please see Quantity/Cost Relationships.

Q.  What is the "Average Retail" Price?

A.  This is the average of the Usual and Customary (regular retail) prices that have been submitted to the processor by U.S. pharmacies for the specific drug and prescription quantity that you are researching.

Q.  What is the "Network" Price?

A.  This is the discounted price that a participating U.S. Network pharmacy has agreed to charge you or your benefit plan when you use your plan’s drug card.

Q.  What is the "Options" Price?

A-1. "GENERIC" ----à Example Drug Name

If the brand-name drug you are researching has a U.S.-approved generic alternative, the "Options" column will default to also show the U.S. retail network price for that generic option. (Almost all generics are less expensive in the U.S. retail pharmacy network.)

                    A-2. "CANADIAN SUGGESTED QUANTITY"

This column shows the cost for a "dose-factored 90-day supply" – which amount offers you maximum savings for that product. The quantity is derived by considering the manufacturer’s recommended daily dosage, the international package size, and the maximum quantity allowed for individual importation. Based on your physician’s order, your benefit plan design, or your individual needs, at your discretion you may choose or be allowed to order greater or lesser amounts than that shown on the screen.

                    Q. When I enter my medication name in the "Find Drug Price" screen, why

does it return the "Field not Found" message?

A.  You have misspelled the name of the drug. You can find the correct spelling by clicking on the "List of Qualified Drugs" Icon or the "Complete List of Canadian Drugs". (You may also enter the first four letters of a medication name and all drugs of similar spelling will appear)
